While it is highly important for PR and Communications to stay relevant and current with emerging technologies, we cannot deny that traditional PR practices will remain as the foundation to successful campaigns. Having said that, I must admit that emerging technology has transformed PR and Communications as it has opened a floodgate of communications channels - double thumbs up!

Given a plethora of emerging technologies such as Social Media (including listening and monitoring), Influencer deployment, AI adoption, machine learning, and data-driven PR and Communications – it has propelled the PR and Communications industry towards greater heights, if used intelligently and skilfully. In fact, emerging technologies have helped my company's PR work by leaps and bounds; it has reshaped the landscape of how I would otherwise execute my PR and Communications campaigns.

I can also imagine a future of using other emerging technologies like virtual reality and/or augmented reality for an immersive PR experience. Or the deployment of chatbots and virtual assistants for communications. And maybe the utilisation of blockchain technology in PR and Communications for perceiving and managing data for trust, accountability, and transparency. I would certainly embrace these technologies’ usage when it is more readily available at an affordable cost!
